Has your child ever come to you with their latest idea and your immediate response was a list of the reasons why their idea wouldn’t work? If that was the case then I am sure that they probably didn’t rush to share too many more of their ideas. As parents we have many life experiences that sometimes give us greater insights to possible successful scenarios. However, those same life experiences often prevent us from thinking ‘outside the box.’
Better Response: Ask for more details. Have them explain what problem they are trying to solve. Have them explain how they came up with this approach. Discuss their idea with them. We need to encourage
